Lieutenant Basil Claudius Ash

Battalion : 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born 25th April 1886. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Claudius James Ash, of Blakeney, Norfolk and 2 Parkhill Road Hampstead, London. He was gazetted 2nd Lieutenant Sherwood Foresters from the militia 20th March 1907 and promoted Lieutenant 5th June 1909 being employed with the Nigerian Regiment, West African Frontier Force until the outbreak of the Great War. He went to France 11th September 1914 and was killed in action, 20th September 1914, aged 28, at Troyon, France during the Battle of the Aisne.
