Battalion : 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Son of Samuel and Ellen Bagshaw, of Kelvin Side, Dimple, Matlock, Derbyshire. He was a Stone Mason prior to enlisting 5th March 1913 at Matlock. He went to France 28th February 1915 and was admitted to the 13th General Hospital Boulogne, France 7th June 1915, suffering from pneumonia. He was then evacuated to England on Hospital Ship Brighton. He returned to France 10th November 1915 and was killed in action, 1st July 1916, aged 24, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
