Battalion : 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Son of Samuel James and Elizabeth Bailey of 11, St. Andrews Place, Northampton. He was a clicker in a shoe factory prior to enlisting at Northampton. He was killed in action 9th October 1916, age 22 in the attack on the Schwaben Redoubt during the Battle of the Somme.
Buried/Commemorated : Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.
