Born at Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire and lived at Dogdike, Lincolnshire. He was a general farm worker prior to enlisting 14th February 1916 at Sleaford, Lincolnshire. He went to France 4th July 1916 and died, 26th November 1916, from gunshot wounds and fracture of his skull at 41 Casualty Clearing Station, Wanquetin, France.
