Born and lived at Brigg, Lincolnshire. Son of William and Damaris Bains, of Glebe Road, Brigg. He enlisted at Boston, Lincolnshire and was killed in action, 8th August 1917, during a German raid on the British line near Plouvain, France.

Buried/Commemorated : Sunken Road Cemetery, Fampoux, France. Plot 1. Row D. Grave 12.
