Born at Kniveton, Ashbourne, Derbyshire. and lived at Clay Cross, Derbyshire. Son of John and Emily Baker; Husband of Nellie Baker, of 2, Dunns Cottages, Danesmoor, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was a Farm Worker at Brook Farm Kniveton prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He died of wounds, 27th October 1916, aged 21, at 2/2nd London Casualty Clearing Station, Meaulte, France.

Buried/Commemorated : Grove Town Cemetery, Meaulte, France. Plot 2. Row D. Grave 36.
