Born at Tibshelf, Derbyshire. Son of Thomas and Hannah Barringer, of 3 Club Houses, Nether Moor, Tibshelf. Husband of Ethel Davenport (formerly Barringer), of Dunsil Teversal, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Clay Cross, Derbyshire. He went to France 8th September 1914 and was killed in action, 20th September 1914, aged 27, during a German raid on the British positions at Troyon, France.
