Battalion : 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Belper, Derbyshire and lived at Parkside, Belper. Son of Thomas and Harriet Bembridge, of 1, Nottingham Road, Belper. He was a Colliery Labourer prior to enlisting 4th September 1914. He went to France 1st March 1915 and was killed in action, 1st July 1916, during the attack on Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.

Buried/Commemorated : Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.

His two brothers Private Arthur Bembridge, 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and Private Allan Bembridge, 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment also fell in the Great War, (Private Allan Bembridge fell on the same day).
