Only son of Samuel & Amelia Bentley, of Heatherside, Duffield, Derbyshire. Native of Derby and was a Bank Clerk. He went to France in December 1915 and was wounded 3rd March 1916 received in the attack of a German position at Ypres/Commines Canal He died of wounds received 3rd March 1916 in the attack near Chester Farm, South East of Ypres, 11th March 1916 aged 23, at No.1 Red Cross (Dutchess of Westminsters's) Hospital, Le Touquet, France.

Buried/Commemorated : Etaples Military Cemetery, France. Plot 1, Row B, Grave 22.
