Battalion : 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Nottingham. Son of John G. Buswell, of 5 Milner Road, Sherwood, Nottingham. He was a Lace Designer prior to enlisting 3rd June 1915 at Nottingham. He was appointed Lance Corporal 26th June 1915 and promoted Corporal 27th July 1915. He went to France 6th March 1916, was promoted Sergeant 17th August 1916 and was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, during the attack near Beaumont Hamel, France, during the Battle of the Somme.

Buried/Commemorated : Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.

His brother Lance Corporal George Burgess Buswell, 1/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment also fell in the Great War.
