Born at Highbury, London and lived at Southampton, Hampshire. Son of Augustus and Rosalie Dixon, of 125, Avenue Road, Avenue, Southampton. He was a Barman prior to enlisting 26th November 1914 at Southampton in to the Hampshire Regiment and went to France 26th May 1915. He was admitted to 14th Stationary Hospital, Wimereaux, France suffering from influenza 23rd July 1915 and was sent back to England 2nd October 1915 being under age for overseas service.

He returned to France 5th April 1916. He returned to England under age 16th April 1917 and was transferred to the 2/5th Bedfordshire Regiment 22nd May 1917.

He returned to France 3rd April 1918 with the 5th Reserve Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment and was posted to the 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment 4th April 1918. He was killed in action, 22nd April 1918, aged 19, during the attack at Aveluy Wood, France.
