Battalion : 2/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Repton, Derbyshire. Son of Frederick and Elizabeth Eaton, of The Cross, Repton. He was a market gardener prior to enlisting 25th November 1915 at Derby. He went to France 25th February 1917 and was killed in action, 3rd May 1917, age 21, during the attack on Malakoff and Cologne Farms, France, on the Somme.

Buried/Commemorated : Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.

One of four brothers who fell, they were, Private Albert Eaton, 2/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, Private George Frederick Eaton, 1/6th Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment, and Private John (Jack) Eaton, 6th Battalion King's Shropshire Light Infantry.
