Born at Nottingham and lived at 14 Granville Street, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. Son of Bartholomew and Ann Good, of 4 West Street, Ilkeston. He was a Telegraph messenger for the Great Northern Railway prior to enlisting 8th August 1914 at Derby. He went-to France 1st March 1915 and was killed in action, 6th May 1915, aged 18, whilst serving in the trenches near Lindenhoek, Belgium.

His brother Private Joseph Good, 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, also fell in the Great War.
