Private John Henry Notman

Battalion : 1/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Nottingham and lived at 87, Ena Avenue, Sneinton Dale, Nottingham. Son of Matthew and Ada Notman, of 2 Alpine Terrace, Nottingham. He was an apprentice bricklayer prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France 28th February 1915 and was killed in action, 8th November 1915, aged 24, whilst serving in the line at Richebourg St Vaast, France.

Buried/Commemorated : St. Vaast Post Military Cemetery, Richebourg-Lavoue, France. Plot 2. Row D. Grave 10.

Private John Henry Notman is also commemorated on the following local memorials :-
St. Stephen's Church War Memorial, Sneinton, Nottingham.

His brother Private Alfred Notman, 1/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, also fell in teh Great War.
