Battalion : 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Swallows Nest Yorkshire. Son of Mr. Benjamin Oakley, of 19, Seymour Terrace, Staveley, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting 16th November 1914 at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was killed in action, 16th September 1916, age 33, during the attack on the German positions at Guillemont, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
