Born at Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of Caroline Moss, of 3, Rodsfords Row, Skegby, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He lived at 21 Redcliff Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield. Was previously a professional solder with the Grenadier Guards having enlisted in January 1907 serving in India. He went to France 10th September 1914 and was killed in action 20th September 1914, age 33 at Troyon, France,
