Battalion : 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Nottingham and lived at Stapleford, Nottingham. Son of William and Maria Wheelhouse, of 5, Alveys Yard, Fisher Gate, Nottingham. Husband of Hannah Maria Gibson (formerly Wheelhouse), of 5, Luther Square, Halls Road, Stapleford, Nottingham. He was regular soldier and enlisted at Nottingham. He went to France 9th September 1914 and was killed in action, 9th August 1915, aged 30, in the attack at Sanctuary Wood, Belgium.

Buried/Commemorated : Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium. Panel 39 and 41.

His brother Private Leonard Wheelhouse, 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, also fell in the Great War.
